The biomass power plant completed in spring 2016 by NokianvirranEnergia Oy produces process steam and district heat for use by its owners. The 45-million-euro investment project saw the replacement of the old grate boiler from the 1970s with a modern BFB boiler, which was implemented in the old boiler building. At the same time, the fuel reception and transfer to the boiler was also modernised. NokianvirranEnergia Oy is a joint venture of LeppäkoskenSähkö Oy, Nokian RenkaatOy and Oy Essity Finland Ab.
