Fimpec part of pioneering green hydrogen project

The first project is in Harjavalta, where P2X Solutions is building a green hydrogen plant that will use electricity produced with renewable energy sources. The company announced its investment decision concerning the plant on 2 February 2022. This will be the first industrial-scale green hydrogen production plant in Finland. Green hydrogen is produced completely emission-free through the electrolysis of water. Some of the green hydrogen is combined with P2X’s captured carbon dioxide and further processed into renewable synthetic fuels. The plant’s hydrogen production capacity will be 20 MW.

Construction work on the green hydrogen production plant in the Harjavalta Industrial Park will begin in autumn 2022 and is expected to take roughly six months. Fimpec’s involvement in the project will begin already with the preliminary work and covers responsibility for procurement and scheduling, among other things. Once completed, the Harjavalta facility will reduce Finland’s CO2 emissions by approximately 40,000 metric tonnes per year.

The framework agreement also covers future collaborative projects. The agreement covers several years, and the collaboration projects will employ an estimated 5 to 15 Fimpec employees for the foreseeable future.
