Fazer
Lahti chocolate factory
About the project
The new chocolate factory in Lahti will combine Fazer’s extensive chocolate expertise with highly automated production lines, carbon neutrality in the factory’s own energy consumption, and efficient use of raw materials. The factory will apply for BREEAM environmental certification. Construction began in August in the Pippo business district in Lahti, with operations set to start in 2028.
The construction phase of the new chocolate factory will employ hundreds of professionals from different fields, amounting to an estimated total of over 500,000 working hours. This is the largest investment in Fazer’s history. The investment value is approximately 400 million euros.
Fimpec’s role in the project
Fimpec joined the project during the preparation phase at the end of 2024. Following the investment decision announced in July 2025, the cooperation has continued, with Fimpec’s experts working in many different roles within Fazer’s project organization. Their responsibilities include project management tasks such as construction supervision, engineering management, schedule and cost control, documentation, quality assurance, site and equipment installation supervision, and safety coordination. In early September 2025, 15 Fimpec experts were working on the project, with the number increasing as the project progresses.
