Metsä Spring selects Fimpec for the pre-engineering of Kuura textile fibre plant

Metsä Spring has chosen Fimpec as its partner for the pre-engineering of a plant planned for the commercial production of Kuura textile fibre. The pre-engineering phase is set to continue until 2026.

Fimpec will deliver the construction management services for the pre-engineering phase of the project, bringing its experience from previous Metsä Group projects, including the bioproduct mills in Äänekoski and Kemi.

“Based on our previous experiences, we have strong confidence in Fimpec’s expertise. It is natural to continue our cooperation on the important Kuura project,” says Jari-Pekka Johansson, Project Director at Metsä Spring.

“This project is an excellent continuation of our previous collaboration with Metsä Group. Fimpec has a long history as a partner for the forest industry, and it is a pleasure to be involved in a project like Kuura, which showcases the forest industry’s ability to transform and innovate,” states Marko Mäkimartti, Operative Director at Fimpec.

Kuura is a textile fibre made from softwood pulp, the development of which began in 2020 as part of Metsä Group’s commitment to developing renewable solutions.
