Fimpec involved in engineering Valmet’s container board machine line in Turkey
Fimpec will supply Valmet with the plant engineering for a board machine line in Söke, Turkey. Fimpec’s role in the project is significant. The engineering process involves Fimpec’s specialists from a number of different fields of engineering. The project is already well under way.
Fimpec’s long-term customer Valmet has ordered from Fimpec plant engineering services for a board machine line in Söke, Turkey. The end customer is the Turkish board manufacturer Kipas Kagıt Sanayi İsletmeleri A.Ş. Upon completion, the board machine will be some nine metres wide, it will have a speed of 1,800 metres per minute and produce 1,900 tonnes of 90-gram fluting or liner grade per day.
For Fimpec, the project, named KIPASPM3, is a tour de force of many different fields of engineering, such as process, automation layout, pipeline and construction engineering.
Fimpec’s work on the project began in June 2021. The project will employ Fimpec more intensely for the space of a year and, at its peak, will involve dozens of specialists. All in all, the work will take a year and a half. The startup of the machine is planned for the end of 2023.
“Our collaboration is strong, and it has been a natural step to take on another project of this calibre together with Valmet. This is an excellent continuation of similar engineering projects that we have carried out for Valmet,” says Harri Soininen, Fimpec’s Director of Engineering Services.
Valmet reported on the project on its website in September 2021: Valmet to supply a container board making line to Kipas Kagıt in Turkey.
