Stora Enso invested in Oulu for conversion of a fine paper machine into a paperboard machine. For CTS Engtec, the engineering will continue until summer 2020. The new machine is expected to be operational by the end of 2020.

Veijo Valve, Project Manager of CTS Engtec, is involved in the management of the investment project. He explains the course of the project as follows.

“The paper machine lines at the Oulu mill are about 500 metres long, among the longest in the world. Surely, changes in such a large production line are considerable, but we are at our best in such projects. In case of the Oulu mill investment project, it must be taken into account that launching of paperboard production will affect all operations of the entire mill area. The pulp mill, energy production, and systems servicing the area also require engineering.”

CTS Engtec Oy has a long history of co-operation with both Stora Enso and the Oulu plant. The first paper production line engineered by CTS Engtec was commissioned in Oulu in the early 1990s. Antti Lukka, Managing Director of CTS Engtec, tells about the company’s preparedness for the Oulu investment project:

“CTS Engtec has years of solid experience in engineering pulp, paper, and paperboard mills for forest industry companies. Our objective is to produce high-quality engineering playing the key role in such demanding projects. We can praise our professional, committed, and highly motivated engineers for the long co-operation with Stora Enso. Such projects also open up possibilities for expansion of our business at the local level.”
